Learning Teaching and Training Activity in Athens, Greece
From the 22nd until the 25th of June, MicroWeave’s Learning, Teaching and Training Activity took place in the premises of the University of West Attica (UNIWA) in Athens, Greece.
During the 4 days of the training’s implementation, 3 educators from each partner university in the consortium participated in a creative training delivered by Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV). During the training, all attendees learned how to design engaging and interactive learning materials for diverse audiences using Genially, while also exploring the developed Escape Rooms methodology which will become a part of the project’s Student Hub.
All project partners and participative educators had the opportunity to also visit UNIWA’s laboratories, exchanging their experiences and knowledge regarding the detection and analysis of microplastics. They were introduced to the equipment used in the labs in order to identify, classify and quantify microplastics, followed by a hands-on practical demonstration on sample analysis using a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM).
During the visit, participants were also presented with research regarding microplastic detention, and shared their own insights into the current scientific developments in the field.
Besides the laboratory visit, partners had the opportunity to discuss and exchange knowledge on the analytical methodologies in microplastic research, providing an efficient space of engaging with the current challenges of microplastic pollution and results being developed to combat it during the project’s implementation.
